Introduction: Data Attributes in OmmaSign are versatile variables that can be defined in both shops and device settings. These attributes enable the creation of dynamic, context-specific content displays by integrating with Display Rules.

Step 1: Understanding Data Attributes

  1. Data Attributes are variables that can be assigned to shops or devices. They allow you to tailor content display based on the specific characteristics or conditions of a shop or device.

  1. Data Attributes work in tandem with Display Rules to automate content changes based on real-time data.

Step 2: Defining Data Attributes

  1. In Shops:

    • Go to the Shops section in OmmaSign.

    • Select the shop where you want to define Data Attributes.

    • In the shop configuration, locate the “Attributes” section.

    • Define your Data Attributes (e.g., StoreType: "QSR", PromotionActive: "True").

    • Save the changes to apply the attributes to the shop.

  2. In Device Settings:

    • Navigate to the Devices section.

    • Select the device for which you want to define Data Attributes.

    • In the device configuration settings, locate the “Attributes” section.

    • Define your Data Attributes (e.g., ScreenOrientation: "Portrait").

    • Save the changes to apply the attributes to the device.

Step 3: Attaching Data Attributes to Display Rules

  1. Linking Attributes to Display Rules:

    • Navigate to the Content section and select the content you want to control with Display Rules.

    • Go to the Display Rules tab within the content editor.

    • Add a new rule and select “Data Attribute” as the condition.

  2. Defining Rules Based on Data Attributes:

    • Choose the Data Attribute defined in the device settings.

    • Set up the condition that will trigger the content display. For example:

      • Show specific content when StoreType is "QSR".

      • Display a portrait layout when ScreenOrientation is "Portrait".

      • Skip content when PromotionActive is not "True".

  3. Testing and Applying Rules:

    • Test the Display Rules to ensure that the content behaves as expected based on the device’s Data Attributes.

    • Apply the rules and monitor the content to verify dynamic adaptation across devices.

Step 4: Examples of Data Attributes Usage

  • Store Type-Specific Content:

    • Use a StoreType attribute to deliver tailored content for different types of stores, such as QSR or retail.

  • Screen Orientation-Specific Layout:

    • Utilize the ScreenOrientation attribute to automatically adjust the content layout between portrait and landscape modes.

  • Promotion-Based Content Trigger:

    • Define a PromotionActive attribute to automatically switch content when a promotion is active in a specific store.

Conclusion: Data Attributes provide a powerful way to customize and adapt content dynamically across different devices in OmmaSign. By defining these attributes in device settings and integrating them with Display Rules, you can ensure your content is relevant, context-aware, and effectively targeted.
