Configuring the SMG Audio Add-On for Playlist Event Triggers

This document explains how to configure the SMG Audio Add-On so that specific audio files are automatically played in response to playlist events, using API credentials, triggers, and optional delays.

SMG Add-on is a paid solution. If you want to utilize it, please contact our sales team.

Step 1: Add the SMG Audio Add-On to Your Content

Navigate to Add-ons view to add the SMG Audio Add-On to your content where you want audio to be triggered by playlist events.

After the add-on is placed in your content, proceed to its configuration.

Step 2: Enter API Credentials

In the configuration panel of the SMG Audio Add-On, locate the fields for API Key and API URL. Type in your API key and API URL directly or use the examples provided to get the values from shop attributes.

Step 3: Add a New Trigger

Next, navigate to the Event List section of the SMG Audio Add-On configuration.

Add a new trigger, which will define when and how a specific audio file is played.

Step 4: Select the Source Event

For your first trigger, choose the source event that will cause the audio to play.

Set the source event to “Item started playing” so that the audio is triggered when a playlist item begins.

Step 5: Choose the Target Item

Specify which playlist item should trigger the audio sound when it starts playing.

Select the appropriate item from the available list to link it to this trigger.

Step 6: Select the Audio File

Choose the audio file that will be played when the trigger condition is met.

Open your media library and select the desired audio file to associate it with this trigger.

Step 7: Name the Trigger and Configure Delay (Optional)

Provide a clear and descriptive name for your trigger so it can be easily identified later.

Optionally, configure a delay before the audio starts, if you want the sound to play a set amount of time after the event occurs.

Step 8: Review and Finalize Configuration

Review your API settings, trigger event, target item, audio file, trigger name, and any delay settings to ensure everything is correct.

Save your configuration. The SMG Audio Add-On is now set up to play the selected audio file when the defined playlist event occurs.
