What is Lift & Learn?
Lift & Learn is an interactive digital signage solution that automatically plays informative content on screens when a customer picks up a product from a shelf. This system enhances customer engagement by providing instant access to product details, positively influencing purchasing decisions.
How Does It Work?
OmmaSign's Lift & Learn solutions leverage various sensors from our partnership with Nexmosphere to detect when a product is lifted or interacted with. When a sensor is triggered, it sends a signal to a control unit, which then prompts the connected screen to display relevant content like product videos, specifications, or related items.
Common Use Cases:
Lift & Learn is ideal for a wide range of retail environments and interactive displays:
Cosmetics, perfumes, and skincare products: Showcase product features and benefits.
Shoes and sportswear: Provide details on materials, sizing, and styling.
Smartphones and DIY tools: Offer technical specifications and usage demonstrations.
Educational and informative content displays in museums and experience centers: Deliver engaging information about exhibits.
Integration Process:
Implementing Lift & Learn with OmmaSign involves four key steps:
Sensor Selection: Choose the most suitable sensors based on your project's specific requirements.
Control Unit Selection: Select the appropriate control unit depending on the number of sensors and desired functionalities.
Connection: Link the sensors to the control unit, and then connect the control unit to your digital displays.
Content Creation: Develop compelling and informative content that will be triggered by sensor data.
How to Implement the Integration
First, you need to check the requirements below and make sure that all conditions are met. After that, you can move on with setup instructions to complete the integration.

Step-by-Step Implementation Guide
Part 1: Hardware Setup
Connect Nexmosphere Components:
Part 2: OmmaSign Panel Configuration
Log in to your OmmaSign Panel: Access your OmmaSign account through a web browser.
Navigate to "Contents": In the left-hand navigation, click on "Contents".
Identify or Create Your Playlists/Scenes:
You will need to add items (image, video, etc.) that plays when no product is picked up.
For each product you want to enable "Lift & Learn" for, you will need a dedicated item containing the specific content for that product (e.g., "RFID Antenna Tag 1" scene for Product A, "RFID Antenna Tag 2" scene for Product B).
Configure Nexmosphere in Add-ons
Click to Add-ons in Contents page to configure Nexmosphere
Add Nexmosphere on Marketplace
Port: Enter the COM Port number your Nexmosphere controller is connected to on the player PC (e.g., COM3). Find this in your PC's Device Manager.
BaudRate: Leave as 115200 (Default) unless your Nexmosphere device is configured differently.
Sensors Table: For each physical Nexmosphere sensor:
Name: Give it a descriptive name (e.g., "Product A Pick Up").
Type: Select the matching sensor type from the dropdown (e.g., "Button", "Presence", "RFID").
Address: Input the physical Address set on your Nexmosphere module (refer to Nexmosphere documentation for DIP switch settings).
Index: Usually 0 for simple sensors.
Immediate: Toggle ON for instant responses (recommended for Lift & Learn).
Use "Delete" to remove a sensor configuration.
Click DONE to save your settings.
Configure Solo Mode Settings for Triggered Scenes:
For each "triggered" scene (e.g., "RFID Antenna Tag 1"), click on the "S" icon (Solo Mode Settings) next to the scene.
A pop-up window will appear with "Solo Mode Settings" and "Skip Mode Settings". Select "Solo Mode Settings".
In the "Source Event" field, you will input the specific Nexmosphere command that triggers this scene. Based on the provided image, an example for an RFID pick-up might be: nexmosphere event.RFID.action=="picked"
Click "Save".
Repeat for All Triggered Scenes: Go through each of your product-specific scenes and configure their "Solo Mode Settings" with the appropriate Nexmosphere trigger command for their respective products/sensors.
Part 3: Testing and Troubleshooting
Test the Lift & Learn Functionality:
Ensure your OmmaSign player is running and connected to the screen.
Pick up a product with a configured Nexmosphere sensor/RFID tag.
The screen should immediately switch from the "Default Scene" to the content associated with that specific product.
When you place the product back, the screen should ideally revert to the "Default Scene" or a pre-defined idle state (you might need to configure a "Skip Mode" or similar for this in OmmaSign, if available, or a "put down" event in Nexmosphere).
Troubleshooting Tips:
Verify Nexmosphere Connection: Check all physical connections between the Nexmosphere components and the OmmaSign player.
Serial Port Issues: Ensure the serial port on your OmmaSign player is correctly recognized and configured for communication with the Nexmosphere controller. Sometimes, specific drivers might be needed for the USB-to-serial conversion.
Correct Nexmosphere Commands: Double-check that the "Source Event" commands in OmmaSign's "Solo Mode Settings" exactly match the output from your Nexmosphere sensors. Case sensitivity and exact syntax are crucial.
Player Logs: Check the logs on your OmmaSign player for any errors related to sensor input or content switching.
Nexmosphere Debugging: Utilize Nexmosphere's own debugging tools or documentation to confirm sensor output if you suspect an issue with the sensor itself.
OmmaSign Support: If issues persist, contact OmmaSign support for assistance, providing details of your setup and the problems encountered.
