What is it?

Imagine you have a playlist of videos.

  1. Solo Mode: This special mode allows you to highlight specific items. When you turn on Solo Mode for something, only that item will be shown, getting all the attention.

  2. Skip Mode: This mode helps you avoid showing certain items. If you choose Skip
Mode for something, it won't be displayed when going through your list.

  3. Bindings: Bindings serve as rules connecting events to actions. For instance, if a sensor detects an event (like someone picking up a perfume), it triggers displaying information about that specific item until it's returned. Bindings work seamlessly with add-ons that generate events (e.g., lift and learn systems).

Some helpful notes about details:

  • Multiple items can have Solo or Skip modes enabled.

    • If there are multiple "Solo Enabled" items, they act like a sub-playlist, showing only Solo enabled items together.

    • If there are multiple "Skip Enabled" items, they all get skipped together.

  • If both Solo and Skip mode is active for an item, it will act like Solo is enabled.

Simple emergency scenario

Consider a situation where rapid intervention is needed without altering the remaining playlist. Enabling Solo Mode and publishing the content overrides the display with emergency visuals.

Upon completion, disabling Solo Mode hides the emergency item again, restoring the original playlist.

Real-Life Example: Lift and Learn Scenario

Let's explore a scenario at a perfume store using lift and learn technology.

Initial state

  • An emergency visual with "Skip Mode" enabled for emergency situations.

  • A default promotional visual to attract customers to new products (displayed in a default state).

  • Two perfumes with respective visuals, both with "Skip Mode" enabled for display when customers interact with the perfumes.

Customer Interaction with a Cologne:

  • Creating a "Solo Mode Event Binding" triggers a spotlight effect for the relevant perfume when a customer lifts it.

  • Conversely, a "Skip Mode Event Binding" hides the visual once the item is put back down.

What will happen when a customer puts it down?

  • When a customer puts the item back down, we'll initiate a 'Skip Mode Event Binding' process. Upon receiving the 'liftnlearn' event and detecting a 'dropped' state associated with the gender 'women,' we'll activate Skip Mode for this specific item.

  • Enabling Skip Mode will revert the visual display to its default state, effectively hiding it once again from view. The same configuration and process apply to the perfume designed for men.

What about emergency state?

  • When we receive an "alarm" event, and if this event includes "emergency", we enable the solo mode for emergency.

  • We can also remove this emergency in the same way we did with perfumes.

Resolution

  • By leveraging event-based playlist alterations through bindings, this system provides an advanced, environment-responsive screen management solution. It allows dynamic content control without disrupting the entire display sequence.
